The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings Feb. 15 at District Judge Robert Ford's office in Leetsdale:

Postponed

  • Richard Heffner, 32, of Beaver Falls, charges of theft, receiving stolen property, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness. Sewickley police said Heffner stole a trumpet from St. James School in the borough Feb. 3 before showing up and acting belligerently at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at the Presbyterian Church at Beaver and Grant streets.
  • Michael DePace, 24, of Meville Lane, Sewickley, charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and public drunkenness. Sewickley Police reported that DePace threw a beer in a woman's face Jan. 9 at Pizza Roma, on Beaver St., striking the woman in the face with a glass, which caused a 2- to 3-inch cut above the woman's eye. She was treated at Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital.

Warrant Issued

  • Anthony Frelin, 28, of Ambridge, charged with theft, has a warrant issued for his arrest for failing to show for court. Leetsdale Police reported Frelin on Jan. 12 took a bull float valued at $350 from William Cymbalak's property in the 100 block of Ohio River Boulevard. Police said the theft was captured on security cameras on Cymbalak's property.

Waived to Court

  • Bernadette Bernaciak, 47, of Pittsburgh, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without registration and careless driving. Leetsdale Police reported that an officer saw Bernaciak's car making a wide left turn from Cross Street to Route 65 on Dec. 19 and crossing the line several times. Police did not report the results of a blood-alcohol test.
