District Court: Assault, DUI Charges and More

The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings Sept. 27 at office in Leetsdale.

Waived

  • Jill Pace, 23, of Pittsburgh, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. were called for a welfare check at 2:09 a.m. July 23 on River Road in . Police said officers reported seeing headlights over a small hillside and found Pace’s vehicle in the middle of a small creek with the headlights on and engine running. Police said Pace got out of the car and had a hard time standing up, slipping down the hill multiple times as she tried to make her way up, police said. Police said officers helped Pace up the hill and she was taken to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital for a blood-alcohol test. Police did not report the results.  
  • Raymond Sphaler, 32, of McKees Rocks, charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Sewickley Police reported at 3:02 a.m. June 6 officers received a report of a possible intoxicated driver on Route 65 near the Sewickley Bridge. Police followed the car and saw it cross the center line. Police said Sphaler was taken to Sewickley Hospital for a blood-alcohol test. Police did not report the results.

  • Reginald L. Christian, 23, of Pittsburgh, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. stopped Christian’s car at shortly before 9 p.m. July 13 when he was clocked more than 20 miles over the speed limit on Route 65. Police reported a blood-alcohol content of 0.10 percent, above the state’s legal limit.

Reduced

  • Andrew Scott, 28, of Leetsdale, charged with causing or risking a catastrophe. Leetsdale Police reported officers were called to Beaver Street for a report of smoke in the area, and learned thay Scott started a fire on the back porch of his first-floor. Police said Scott admitted he left the fire unattended, police said. Charges were reduced to a non-traffic fine.

  • Christopher Hamren, 52, of Glen Osborne, charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.  were dispatched at 12:32 a.m. Sept. 23 regarding a disturbance in and found that Hamren had a fight that turned physical. Police said he assaulted, spit on and choked someone. Police said Hamren denied assaulting anyone.
