District Court: Hearing Postponed for Suspected Car Thieves

The men are accused of nearly $10,000 in damage and thefts in Edgeworth.

A preliminary hearing has been postponed until later this month for two Shaler men accused of burglarizing several cars in and racking up nearly $10,000 in damage and thefts.

have charged David W. Landy, 24, and Ryan S. Marshall, 23, each with two counts of theft and one count of access device fraud, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.

According to a criminal complaint, police received several reports of vehicle break-ins on July 29, including one in the 400 block of Meadow Lane where police said the men used a blunt object to shatter the passenger side window of a car. Police said the two damaged the door and mirror and left shards of glass embedded in the leather seats, causing an estimated $4,375 in damage to the car.

In the 400 block of Leet Road, police said the men stole a GPS, a laptop, a watch and a wallet with credit cards inside. In the 400 block of Oliver Road, they took $50 in change from a car; and in the 400 block of Maple Lane, they took $4 from a car’s center console, according to police.

Police said the cards were used multiple times to purchase $2,550 in gift cards. Officers learned one of the stolen credit cards was used at about 5:20 a.m. that morning.

Officers were able to get video surveillance that showed the two suspects in the store. On Aug. 2, police learned that the McCandless Township and Shaler police departments had similar theft incidents in their communities and that the description of the two guys matched all three cases.  Shaler Police detectives were able to identify the suspects in the Edgeworth crimes as Landy and Marshall.

Shaler and McCandless Township police have filed identical charges against the two. A preliminary hearing for the Edgeworth case is scheduled for Sept. 27.

  • Brandie Fay Hill, 31, of Freedom, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. reported that at 2:38 p.m. April 22, an officer saw Hill’s car drifting in another lane and swerving on Route 65 in Sewickley. They took her to for blood to be drawn. Police reported her blood-alcohol level at 0.207 percent, more than twice the legal limit for intoxication of 0.08 percent.
