District Court: Preliminary Hearing Results for July

The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings July 24 at office in Leetsdale:

Reduced

  • Trent Simon, 20, of Fair Oaks, charged with two counts simple assault and terroristic threats and one count harassment by . Charges were reduced to harassment and Simon was ordered to pay a $25 fine plus court costs.
  • Julia Boles, 22, of Mars, charged by Franklin Park police with possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges were reduced to disorderly conduct and Boles was ordered to pay a $25 fine plus court costs.

Withdrawn

  • Kayla Fortuna, 25, of Leet Township, charged with simple assault by. Charges were withdrawn.
  • , 26, of Pittsburgh, charged with theft by . Charges were dismissed.

 

The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings July 17.

Postponed

  • Joseph Stickles, 39, of Hopewell Township, charged with three counts of bad checks and one count each of theft and receiving stolen property.  , 28, of Ambridge, charged with eight counts of writing bad checks, and one count each of forgery and theft.  Leetsdale police said stole checks from Labor Ready, where he worked in the office, and wrote out three of them to Stickles along with eight checks to himself totaling about $3,000. Stickles cashed three stolen checks totaling $1,066.22. became aware of the theft in June after all of the checks bounced, police said. Both men have been ordered to repay the money within 90 days.

Waived to court

  • Jonathan Mueller, 24, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and numerous driving violations. State police stopped Mueller March 10 on Interstate 79 near the Mt. Nebo exit area after receiving numerous calls about a vehicle traveling north in the southbound lanes that struck a guardrail and continued traveling. Franklin Park police stopped the vehicle off the I-79 Wexford exit.  Police reported a blood-alcohol level of 0.173 percent, above the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.
  • David Van Dusen, 32, of Leetsdale, charged with driving under the influence, institutional vandalism, endangering the welfare of children noticed Van Dusen's car when he failed to dim the high beams May 21 on Glen Mitchell Road. Police said the car was stopped and Van Dusen was asked to step out. Police said he had been driving with a female passenger and newborn baby in the car. A substance on his nostril and upper lip tested positive for cocaine, and police said he left the same substance on the seat, floor and partition of the police car after he was transported to the hospital. Van Dusen was taken to the hospital for a blood-alcohol test and police said the results are pending.
  • Jennifer Rosen, 26, of Wexford, charged with driving under the influence.  Franklin Park police reported Rosen’s vehicle was stopped March 30 after it was seen merging left on Interstate 79 without a signal and swaying into another lane. She was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for a blood-alcohol test. Police did not report the results.
  • , 21, of Glen Osborne charged with driving under the influence, possession of oxycodone and possession of drug paraphernalia. said Perkins was involved in a multi-vehicle crash April 24 in the 700 Block of Beaver Street. She was taken to Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital for a blood-alcohol test. Police reported test results were pending.

 

The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings July 10.

Dismissed

  • Keith Cook, 29, of Moon, charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. Sewickley police said Cook grabbed a woman May 30 and punched her. Charges were dismissed.

Waived to court

  • Vincent Yock, 19, of Cranberry, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking. Franklin Park police said York was seen driving a car with an inoperable registration light and was stopped on the Interstate 79 on ramp.  He submitted to a blood-alcohol test. Police did not report the results.   
  • Gregory Lorch, 22, of Sewickley, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking. Franklin Park police said Lorch's car struck a tree head on May 14 in the 2600 block of Big Sewickley Creek Road. Police reported his blood-alcohol level was 0.188 percent, above the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
  • William Coyle, 23, of Aleppo, charged with driving under the influence.  Sewickley police reported Coyle was stopped May 20 for speeding on Blackburn Road. Police reported his blood-alcohol level was 0.195 percent, above the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Reduced

  • Jennifer Weifenbach, 55 of Sewickley, charged with simple assault.  said Weifenbach argued with and punched a male June 16 at the BP on Route 65. Charges were reduced to non-traffic.
  • Rita Frank, 18, of Wexford, charged with possession of a controlled substance and underage drinking. Franklin Park police said Frank was charged after police busted an underage drinking party at her home April 21 when police received complaints about a loud party. Charges were reduced to disorderly conduct.
