Driver Taken to Hospital After Crashing Car Through Fence

Police said the 90-year-old driver and her 86-year-old passenger were taken by ambulance.

A 90-year-old Ambridge woman and her 86-year-old passenger were both transported to Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital after their vehicle went through a fence.

Police said Carolyn Dennerlein was pulling out of the parking lot across the street from 417 Centennial Avenue on July 14 when her gas throttle stuck and the car took off across the street. 

Police said the car hit a pile of bricks and went through a fence, landing in the yard of 601 Locust St. Both women were taken by ambulance and the vehicle was towed.

Disabled boat

Police were dispatched July 21 to the Coast Guard facility in reference to a boat that broke down in the middle of the river. The Coast Guard had no boats available so Neville Island River Rescue was dispatched and was able to tow the boat to the Walnut Street Boat Ramp.

Property stolen 

Police received a report July 23 about a theft of patio furniture in the 300 block of Centennial Avenue. Police said the resident noticed around 8:45 p.m. that two of her chairs were missing although they had been there earlier that day. The furniture is described as green wrought-iron chairs with cushions.

On July 16, police said a copper flower basket valued at $75 was taken from a backyard fence in the 300 block of Peebles Street.

Vehicles Cited

Several drivers were recently cited for vehicle violations on Route 65.

Police attempted to stop a northbound car on July 25 after the car was spotted with an inspection that expired in April. The vehicle took off up Hazel Lane in Edgeworth and police made a stop on Pine.  

Police said the driver had a suspended license. He was cited and the vehicle was towed.

Police stopped a northbound vehicle shortly before 5 p.m. July 24 for having an inspection that expired in May. The driver was stopped in the Subway parking lot in Leetsdale and cited.

Police stopped another vehicle on at 5:42 p.m. July 24 after the registration was found to be suspended and the insurance canceled. The vehicle was towed.
