Edgeworth Teacher Discovers Smoldering Locker

Edgeworth fire and school officials are investigating the elementary school incident after a book and papers were found burning in a locker.

An unusual incident occurred at School today involving a smoke-filled locker, Quaker Valley school officials confirmed.

Martha Smith, spokeswoman, said a teacher smelled smoke as she was returning with her class from recess today. The teacher quickly determined the smell was not coming from a classroom activity, but from a student locker in the fourth-grade wing.

"School personnel investigated and found smoke emanating from a book and papers.  The materials were immediately removed from the locker," Smith said.
