Emsworth Man Facing Child Porn Charge

82-year-old George Jones sought to join a child pornography website.

An Emsworth man faces charges related to child pornography following a lengthy investigation by the Regional Computer Crimes Task Force.

According to the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office, George Jones, 82, of 112 Maple Ave., was identified in March 2008 as having asked to join a child-pornography website.

Several days later a federal search warrant was executed to obtain computer information showing that Jones had accessed a child-pornography website, the district attorney's office reported.

Information obtained during that interview and a forensic examination of Jones' computer led to federal investigators requesting that the District Attorneys Office prosecute the case, authorities said.

Earlier this week, authorities obtained a warrant to arrest Jones. He was arraigned Thursday before Magistrate Tara Smith in Belleview on one count of possession of child pornography.

Smith set bail at $100,000 unsecured and set a preliminary hearing for 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
