Former Army Ranger Charged With Making Terroristic Threats

Police said the man made death threats against a local couple and police.

A former Army Ranger now serving in the Army National Guard is accused of making serious threats against a Sewickley couple.

Robert Brooks, 27, was recently charged with two counts of making terroristic threats.

According to a criminal report, Sewickley police received a complaint in February from a borough couple who said Brooks was texting, calling and threatening them.

Police said Brooks formerly lived with the couple, one of whom is his relative, but the living situation caused marital issues between them.

Police said Brooks is a former Army Ranger now serving in the Army National Guard and is currently away at training, but has been harassing the couple with threats on their lives. The barrage of messages have also included death threats against police, the complaint said.

Police compiled a record of the text messages, emails and voicemails that Brooks left.

The complaint states that police are familiar with Brooks after previously serving him with a protection-from-abuse order during which he relinquished an assault rifle, semi-automatic handgun, accessories and ammunition.
