Glen Osborne Woman Charged With DUI After Crashing Three Parked Cars

Sewickley police reported to the following recent incidents.

A Glen Osborne woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with open containers, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving, according to Sewickley police.

Police responded to a four-vehicle crash shortly after 10:15 p.m. April 24 in the 700 block of Beaver Street.

Police said Julia Perkins, 21, of Orchard Street, struck the rear of a parked car, triggering a reaction. The second car struck a third vehicle that in turn struck a fourth vehicle. The parked cars were owned by Eric Jarvie of Sewickley, Jane Stopha of Waynesboro, VA, and Phillip McCaffrey of Sewickley.

Police said Perkins had a bottle of vodka protruding from her purse and admitted to drinking that evening. She gave police permission to search her purse to find her wallet. Police didn't find the wallet, but did find 32 prescription pills that Perkins said belonged to her father, police said.

During a search of her car, police said officers found two partially full bottles and an empty bottle of vodka, a set of brass knuckles and a glass pipe.  Police said Perkins was transported to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital for a blood-alcohol test, but the results are pending. She was released to her father. Three of the vehicles, including Perkins' station wagon, were towed.

Sewickley Police also responded to the following. Each incident reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.

Sewickley Bridge crash

No one was injured following a two-vehicle crash April 25 on the Sewickley Bridge. Police said Wesley Kenneweg, 63, of Sewickley Heights stopped on the bridge when the sport utility vehicle in front of him stopped while headed to the Moon Township side. A car driven by David Pitaro, 51, of Coraopolis struck Kenneweg’s vehicle.  Pitaro’s vehicle was towed.

Possession of ecstacy

Police were dispatched April 21 to the Sewickley Bridge for a report of a male sitting at the light, passed out behind the wheel of his car.

When police arrived, officers found a sleeping man stopped at the traffic light with the engine running and his foot on the brake. Police knocked on the window and woke up the driver, later identified as Marcus Norman, 22, of Aliquippa. The driver eventually rolled down his window, but started to slowly back up the vehicle, police said. An officer had to reach inside the car, place the vehicle in park and remove the keys, police said.

Police found three capsules in the car that were identified as ecstasy. Norman was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital for a blood draw and released to his brother.

Stolen handgun report

Police received a report April 16 of a stolen handgun from a van. The gun is described as a Glock Model 127 .40 caliber handgun.

Car complaint

Police were called April 20 to the 400 block of Broad Street for a car theft. Police said a woman was unable to locate her car in the lot she typically parks in. After looking around, police said the car was found. Police said  the woman forgot that she purchased a new vehicle the day before.

Theft from vehicle

Police received a theft from a vehicle report April 20 from a resident who left her windows open the night before. Police said the woman’s wallet containing credit cards and $450 in cash and an iPod were stolen.

Stolen electronics

Someone took an Apple laptop from an unsecure locker April 19 at the Sewickley Valley YMCA. Police said a student placed the laptop in the locker at 3 p.m. and discovered the equipment missing at 5 p.m. The student was told to report to school officials the stolen laptop, which belongs to the Quaker Valley School District.

In a separate incident on April 18, police said someone took an iPhone valued at $700 from a locker at the Y.
