Judge Orders Former Sewickley Internet Entrepreneur to Pay $65,000 in Restitution

A former man and Internet entrepreneur was sentenced in federal court this week and ordered to pay restitution, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Pittsburgh.

Mark Juliano, 52, of Sonoma, Calif., formerly of Orchard Place in Sewickley, on Monday received three years' probation and was ordered to have no contact with his ex-wife and their four children.

In a separate hearing Tuesday, Senior U.S. District Judge Alan N. Bloch ordered Juliano to pay $62,000 in restitution to his ex-wife for attorney fees and home security upgrades.

In May, Juliano to one count of making false statements to the United States government.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Juliano made a fraudulent claim to the government when he submitted an application in 2010 for a new passport, claiming under false pretenses to have lost his old passport. His attempt to get a new passport came after Juliano was charged last year in federal court with cyber-stalking his ex-wife, who had obtained a protection-from-abuse order against him.

In August, according to a criminal affidavit, Juliano sent a number of emails to his ex-wife threatening to take their children out of the country.

The FBI conducted the investigation that led to Juliano’s prosecution, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Juliano was an executive at the networking firm Fore Systems, and helped to found local start-ups.
