Leetsdale Police Nab Three Drivers in DUI Patrols

Leetsdale police reported the following recent incidents.

recently charged three people with driving under the influence after conducting traffic patrols as part of the West Hills DUI Task Force.

Police found Charles R. Ammer Jr., 48, of Wexford, on May 4 sitting in a lawn chair next to a van in front of . Ammer told police he was driving on Route 65 when he hit a curb and blew out his front tire. Police said Ammer was waiting for a tow truck to change his tire and smelled of alcohol. Police said he tested positive for alcohol with a portable breathalyzer test and failed a field sobriety test. He agreed to submit to a blood-alcohol test and the results are pending.

Robert Baker, 32, of McKeesport, was stopped May 5 for speeding on Route 65 near Broad Street. Baker told police he had two beers earlier in the evening. Police said he failed a field sobriety test and tested positive for alcohol in a portable breathalyzer test. He agreed to submit to a blood-alcohol test and the results are pending.

Raymond J. Ahlborn, 65, of Imperial, was found May 5 looking through the trunk of his car in the Curves parking lot at Cross and Beaver streets. Police said Ahlborn’s tire had a gash and the rim was bent. He explained that he struck a curb before stopping in the lot. Police said Ahlborn was slurring his words and stumbling. An officer had to help get his wallet out of his back pocket and saw a permit to carry a firearm. Police secured the .45 caliber semi-auto handgun. Police said Ahlborn failed a field sobriety test and tested positive for alcohol in a portable breathalyzer test. He agreed to submit to a blood-alcohol test and the results are pending.
