Leetsdale Police, Quaker Valley Officials Investigate Potential Threat

School officials say a custodian discovered a message that later was deemed not credible.

A Quaker Valley custodial staff member discovered a possible threat on a restroom wall after student dismissal today at the , according to school officals.

Martha Smith, district spokeswoman, said school resource officer Robert Wright and the Department were immediately notified, and the message was investigated and determined to not be a credible threat.  

"Safety and security are paramount in the . School safety is everyone's business as we rely on information from students, teachers, parents and others within our community when issues arise," Smith said in a news release. "Please know that all threats of violence - real, perceived or in jest - are immediately investigated, and, if warranted, discipline is swift and to the fullest extent allowed by school board policy and/or the law."

Smith said local law enforcement officials will be called upon to assist in any investigation where there is a threat to student and/or school safety.
