Allegheny County Homicide detectives have been summoned to Moon Township after a train struck a pedestrian Saturday.

CSX railroad authorities are currently investigating the crash, which occurred in the railroad's jurisdiction off Route 51 near Valley Ambulance.

Moon and Coraopolis police responded at 4:45 p.m. and are assisting at the scene.

Police said a man was walking along the tracks and didn't hear the train.

The train stopped on the tracks after the incident. Police used yellow tape to block off the road and railroad crossing that leads into the BP bulk fuel station along Route 51.
