Nearby: Man Claiming to Have Bomb Attempts to Rob Cranberry Drug Store

Cranberry Police release surveillance photos of the suspect. Do you recognize this man?

Cranberry Township Police are looking for more information after a man who said he was carrying a bomb attempted to rob the Rite-Aid pharmacy in Cranberry Monday night.

Police were called the pharmacy on Route 19 at about 9:25 p.m., Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said in a news release. The man fled the store prior to officer arriving on the scene.

“The male suspect reportedly had a bomb in his possession and was demanding drugs from the pharmacist,” Mascellino said.

Police were unable to locate the suspect after searching the area. A K-9 officer also assisted in the search.

Mascellino said the four employees in the store at the time of the incident were uninjured. There were no customers in the pharmacy.

The man is described as white, with a thin build and between 5’9” and 6-feet tall. He has brown hair.

During the robbery attempt he was wearing a sleeveless green shirt, blue jean, a black bandanna partially covering his face and blue surgical gloves.

He also had some type of black covering on his upper right arm.

The suspected bomb appeared to be two silver pipes with wires or a wick and some type of box attached.

The man left the store without obtaining any drugs according to police.

Cranberry Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect. Anyone with information in the incident is asked to call police at 724-776-5180 ext. 5.
