News Nearby: Woman Crashes Jeep SUV Into Olive Garden Restaurant

No one was hurt, but the restaurant was forced to close for a day.

A woman crashed her Jeep Liberty sport  Sunday into the rear wall of the Olive Garden restaurant in McIntyre Square, causing enough damage to force the Ross Township restaurant to close for the rest of the day.

Fire Marshall John Reubi said the driver was not hurt. Authorities did not identified the woman, who was alone in the vehicle.

“She was apparently using the drive-by ATM at the  adjacent to the restaurant, and hit the gas when she should have hit the brakes,” he said.

None of the customers inside the restaurant was hurt in the crash at about 2 p.m.

“They probably didn’t even hear it because the collision occurred in the rear of the restaurant, in the kitchen area,”  Reubi said.

At least one of the restaurant’s freezers was damaged, forcing the  to close for the day. Reubi said that aside from the freezer and outside wall, the damage was minimal and the restaurant remains structurally sound.

The driver did not want to identify herself or comment as to what happened. She said only that she was shook up.

The restaurant reopened today.
