Police Blotter: Cement Mischief, a Car Crash, and a Bank Fraud Report

Sewickley Police also respond to report of erractic driver on Broad Street.

Sewickley Police supplied the following information. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Police were dispatched shortly before 4 p.m. Nov. 5 to the 700 block of Nevin Avenue for a criminal mischief report related to a new sidewalk.

A resident showed police where cement work had been finished and where someone wrote the initials “DC…10” in two areas of the sidewalk. The contractor was there and told police whom he suspected of writing the initials, police said.

Police interviewed David Cook of Dickson Road at the station, and police said the 19-year-old admitted to writing in the cement while it was still wet. Cook also told police that he had done it at the same home last year too. The resident decided not to press charges, but asked that police give Cook a stern warning.

Car crash report

No one was injured following a two-vehicle crash on the Sewickley Bridge. Police responded at 2:35 p.m. Nov. 3 and learned that John Flippino, 27, of Turtle Creek, was driving behind Antholy Difolco, 44, of Moon Township, when Flippino glanced away for a moment and his car struck the back of Difolco’s minivan.

Squirrel report

Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Ohio River Boulevard for a report of a squirrel in the fireplace. The homeowner and the officer attempted to chase the squirrel outside, but it ran up the chimney. The flue was closed so the squirrel could not get back into the house.

Bank fraud report

Police took a report Nov. 7 at the station from a business owner who said he found a fraudulent charge on his bank statement.

Police said Justin Morris, owner of , was checking his statement when he found a $480.52 charge. It appeared that someone made an online purchase for DJ equipment in the United Kingdom, police said. His bank suggested he notify police.

Erratic driving

Police responded to the 300 block of Broad Street after receiving a report from a concerned motorist who was following an erratic driver.

Police said the concerned motorist reported watching the erratic driver pull over and seeing a female stumble from the car.

Police made contact with the erratic driver, who said the reason she was driving like that was because she was afraid of the vehicle following her. She lives on Ohio River Boulevard, but turned right onto Broad because she thought she was being tailed, police said.

Gas smell report

Police responded Nov. 1 to the 200 block of Little Street to assist the fire department with a smell of gas. It was determined the resident left the stove burner on.

Ordinance violation complaint

Police received a complaint from a resident about an ordinance violation in the area of Centennial and Academy avenues.

Police responded at 7:07 p.m. Nov. 3 and found a resident on Academy Avenue power washing in the driveway.  The officer said there was no ordinance violation.
