Police Blotter: Carbon Monoxide Causes a Scare

Sewickley Police responded to the following recent incidents. Each reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.

Carbon monoxide report

  • and firefighters responded at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 1 to the 600 block of Grove Street for a report of a possible carbon monoxide leak. The homeowner told police there were problems with the utilities at the house and that carbon monoxide could be leaking. The home did not have carbon monoxide alarms, police said. Firefighters checked the house using CO meters, but did not detect the toxic gas, police said.

Two-car accident reported

  • Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at 10 a.m. Aug. 1 on Route 65 at the Haysville traffic-light intersection. Police said occupants of one vehicle complained of minor injuries from seatbelt burns. Anthony Perri, 18, of Sewickley, told police he was driving on Route 65 and attempting to turn left onto Redgate Road when his car was struck by Mary Ann Woelk’s car. Woelk, 22, of West Olive, MI, told police Perri turned right in front of her vehicle. She said she tried to stop but skidded into a support pole at the intersection, police said. Police said Woelk and her 6-year-old passenger were treated by Quaker Valley Ambulance Authority EMTs. Perri was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
