Police Blotter: Chair, Planter Stolen From Sewickley Resident's Porch

Police responded to the following recent incidents. Each reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.

Sewickley police said someone took several items from a resident's porch in the 800 block of Nevin Avenue including a lime green wooden chair worth $50 and a planter in the form of a chicken worth $30. 

The items were taken sometime overnight Friday, June 14.

Police also responded 5:24 p.m. Sunday, June 16 to a Chadwick Street home for a report of a stolen purse.

Police said a caretaker took a resident’s purse and used her bank card to make purchases at several different establishments without permission. The caretaker then sent the woman a text message to let her know what she had done. Police were continuing to investigate.

Shoplifting report

Police were dispatched at 3:51 p.m. June 13 to Rite Aid for a report of two shoplifters detained inside the store. The two suspects were 11 and 12 and put the three items worth $16.87 in their purses and pockets without paying.  The children were released to their parents.

Soliciting report

Police were called at 3:45 p.m. June 15 to the 500 block of Beaver Street for a report of a man trying to sell key chain mace and small battery-operated stun guns. Police said the items were packaged for sale and had a consignment slip. The solicitation ordinance was explained to the man.

Sick raccoon 

Police were called June 14 to the 300 block of Centennial Avenue for a report of a sick raccoon. Police said the animal was too high in the tree for officers to do anything about its presence. The resident was advised to call Animal Control to set a trap.

Ding-dong ditch 

Police assisted Edgeworth police with a call at 10:46 p.m. Saturday, June 8 after someone reported kids ringing doorbells and running. Police found a group of juveniles in the area who admitted to playing ding-dong ditch. Edgeworth police arrived from another call and warned the kids to go home or they would be cited with curfew violations.
