Police Blotter: Open Lewdness, Stolen Silver and Hunting Complaints

Sewickley Police responded to the following incidents.

A Harrisburg man who urinated in a crowd was recently charged with open lewdness, public intoxication and possession following an incident in the 500 block of Locust Place, reported.

Police said an officer watched at 1:50 a.m. Nov. 24 as Alexander Lewis, 35, of Harrisburg, left Little Athens of Sewickley restaurant, stumbling and visibly intoxicated.

Police said Lewis walked through a crowd of patrons who were smoking outside, unbuttoned his pants and removed his genitals. Police said Lewis then proceeded to urinate in the middle of the sidewalk.

The officer approached Lewis and police said he smelled of alcohol and fresh marijuana. Police said Lewis was arrested and found with a bag of marijuana in his pants pocket during a search. He was taken to Coraopolis lock up to sober up.

Stolen silver reported

Sewickley police charged Mathew Tyson, 29, with selling stolen silver to Atlantic Gold Exchange in Robinson Township in exchange for $314. Police said the homeowner stopped at her house Nov. 21 in the 600 block of Charette Place to see her son and noticed some silver items from a tea set and two candle sticks were missing. Her son told her Tyson stayed at the house overnight and must have taken the items.  Police took the resident to the exchange store to retrieve her items.

Hunting complaints

Police received a hunting complaint at 9 a.m. Nov. 26 in the vicinity of the 800 block of McDonald Street. Police said the caller heard gunshots and believed there were people hunting by the river. Police checked the area, but was not able to locate anyone.

Police were called at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 26 for a report of an arrow found on a resident’s porch in the 500 block of Sycamore Road. Police advised the arrow was likely from a hunter in the wooded area behind their residence. Police took the arrow and notified the Pennsylvania Game Commission, requesting extra patrols in the area. The commissioner told police the next couple of days are hectic with the opening of hunting season, but to notify them if anyone is seen hunting in a posted area.

Car crash report

An officer was traveling at 6:35 a.m. Nov. 24 on Beaver Road in Glen Osborne when he saw a station wagon in a front yard in the 1400 block. Police said the vehicle had obviously been struck in the back, pushed over a curb and through a metal railing at the Greek Orthodox Church and into the owner’s yard. Police said Joseph Reiser’s vehicle had severe damage and debris all over the roadway. The officer followed the trail of anti-freeze up Glen Mitchell Road to Grandview Avenue in Aleppo, where a station wagon that struck the other vehicle was found. Police said the vehicle was driven by Philip Diemert, 22, who went home and notified his father about the crash. His father, Richard Diemert returned to the crash scene and left his insurance card on Reiser’s vehicle. The crash was not reported to police, police said. Police said Deimert planned to notify Reiser in the morning.

 

Two-car crash

Police responded at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 27 to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries at the Sewickley Wine and Spirits. Both drivers refused medical treatment.

Police said Donna Gula, 60, of Sewickley, was leaving the parking lot when she struck the passenger side door of Catherine Vogl’s car. Vogl, 59, of Sewickley, told police she stopped and beeped the horn, but Gula didn’t see her. Police said both cars had moderate damage.

Stolen bike report

Police were called Nov. 30 to the 700 block of Route 65 for a report of a stolen bicycle. Police said the BMX Mongoose bike had been on the family’s porch for the last few weeks. The resident was raking leaves when he noticed someone left a green mountain bike laying in his yard next to a tree. He then noticed the bike missing. The bicycle is described as white with orange trim and a black seat. The bike is valued at $350.
