Police Seize Sword From Leetsdale Man Accused of Assault

A roundup of preliminary hearing results from the office of Magisterial District Judge Robert Ford.

A Leetsdale man accused of hitting a woman in the face waived the charges to Allegheny County Court.

David Eiler, 30, of Broad Street, recently appeared in Leetsdale District Court on charges of simple assault, harassment and recklessly endangering another person.

According to Leetsdale police, Eiler argued with a woman on Nov. 26 before striking her in the face. Police said the woman was bleeding from her face and hand, and was transported by Valley Ambulance to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital.

Officers checked the home for Eiler, but he fled, police said. Police seized a sword belonging to Eiler, who is prohibited from possessing a weapon due to an active protection-from-abuse order on another person.

The following people were also charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings Dec. 18 at Leetsdale District Court:

  • Nicholas P. Leschak, 20, of Springfield Drive, charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.  Franklin Park police reported officers received a search warrant for Leschak on Oct. 18 stemming from an investigation in which Leschak on two occasions talked to an undercover officer and sold him marijuana, police said. On Oct. 19, police said Leschak was part of a pre-planned roundup of suspects  and was taken into custody without incident. During his arrest, police said Leschak gave permission to search his residence. In his bedroom, police found $500 cash in a safe, along with drug paraphernalia, drug packaging material and marijuana.
  • Connie Wynn, 32, of Conway, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Leetsdale police reported that an officer approached Wynn Oct. 21 after she was seen with her head down inside her parked vehicle in a lot at the intersection of Cross Street and Route 65.  Police said the vehicle was running when the officer spoke to Wynn, who was looking for her ring.  Police did not report blood-alcohol test results.
  • Danna J. Bermudez, 43, of Bethel Park, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. State police reported Bermudez‘s vehicle struck another vehicle from behind while traveling south Oct. 24 on Interstate 79.  State police reported a blood-alcohol level of .237 percent.

  • Larance Lowe, 21, of Aliquippa, charged by Sewickley police with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while suspended. Charges were withdrawn.
