Police Stop Elderly Man Riding Lawn Mower on Route 65

Officer spots man puttering south on the busy boulevard.

Police pulled over a 90-year-old man driving a lawn tractor on Route 65 on Sunday, April 17, after an officer patrolling the area noticed the man going 3 to 4 mph in a zone posted for 40 mph.

Police said the driver, an Aleppo Township resident, was pulled over about 12:45 p.m. The man was driving a green Craftsman LT1000 lawn mower, police said.

The man told police he had traveled from Ferndale Avenue to a store and was now headed back to Aleppo. Officers said they later learned the man has Alzheimer’s disease and that his daughter recently took his car keys so he couldn’t drive anymore.
