Sewickley Drug Suspect Waives Right to Hearing

Matthew Castle of Sewickley is facing marijuana-related charges.

A  man who was arrested last month in a drug roundup led by Pennsylvania Attorney General's office investigators appeared Tuesday in court to face charges.

, 31, of Chestnut Street waived his right to a preliminary hearing shortly after appearing with an attorney before Magisterial District Judge Robert Ford in Leetsdale.

He faces one count of unlawful delivery of marijuana, two counts of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, two counts of possession of marijuana and one count of possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

Castle was charged Dec. 21 following a joint investigation between Sewickley police and the attorney general’s office. 

Sewickley Police Sgt. Dave Mazza said authorities served a search warrant at Castle’s home at 329 Chestnut, where officers seized less than 2 pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Castle has been released on a promise to return to court when necessary.

He is among 25 suspects facing criminal charges from the drug roundup that targeted suspected mid-level and street-level drug dealers. According to the attorney general’s office, the busts were the result of an investigation of heroin, marijuana, cocaine and other illegal drugs flowing into the greater Pittsburgh area, the attorney general's office said

 James Moore Jr., 30, of Beaver Street, , also was charged in the roundup with one count of unlawful delivery of oxycodone, one count of possession with intent to deliver oxycodone and one count of possession of oxycodone.

Moore faces a preliminary hearing Jan. 17 in Magisterial District Judge Mary P. Murray's court in Coraopolis.
