Sewickley Police Blotter: An Overdose, Vehicle Violations and a Loose Chicken

Police responded to the following recent incidents.

were investigating a drug overdose Monday after an unconscious woman was dropped off at the  emergency room.

A nurse told police that Kristofer Wigton, 25, of Ambridge, pulled into the emergency entrance at 1:23 a.m. and dropped off Olivia Patterson, whom staff described as “dead” when she arrived, police said.

Emergency room workers revived Patterson, 31, of Ambridge, who was placed on life support and transported to Allegheny General Hospital, police said. A nursing supervisor today said Patterson was in critical condition.

Police said Wigton left the area after briefly describing to hospital staff what had happened. He later returned to the hospital to speak to police.

He told officers the two were shooting up heroin at his Ambridge home when Patterson passed out on the couch and was not moving, police said.

Police said Wigton panicked when he couldn’t wake her up, and that’s when he drove her to the hospital. Police said Wigton was released to the Ambridge police department. 

Sewickley police also responded to the following recent incidents. Each reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.

 

Locker room theft

Police are advising the public to lock up their belongings after reports of recent locker room thefts.

Police were called at 4:15 p.m. March 4 to the Sewickley Valley YMCA after a woman reported her wallet stolen from a women’s locker room. Police said the woman put her purse on a bench about 5 feet behind her to dry her daughter’s hair. When she looked inside her purse 15 minutes later she noticed her designer Kate Spade wallet was gone. Police said the wallet contained the woman’s identification, credit cards and a small amount of cash.

Curfew violation

Police said five teenage girls violated the borough’s curfew while at a sleepover Saturday in the 600 block of Straight Street.

Police said an officer was patrolling shortly after 2 a.m. when he saw the girls, ages 14-15, on Nevin Avenue. The girls ran when they saw the police car and hid behind a parked car. They were transported back to the sleepover and turned over to an adult.

Public intoxication

Police cited two patrons Friday with public intoxication after they were reported to be arguing inside the Sewickley Hotel.

Police said Tim Lampenfeld, 54, of Valencia, was upset because Lee Ann McDonough, 53, of Pittsburgh, went back inside the bar for another drink after a waitress advised her she had to leave.

Car crash reports

An Edgeworth woman had knee pain Friday after her car went through a wooden fence. Police said Cecelia Mascarenhas, 76, thought her vehicle was in reverse when she pressed the accelerator in the parking lot at Sweetwater Center for the Arts. The vehicle traveled over a concrete curb and through a wooden fence, police said. Police said Mascarenhas refused medical transport. She was given a courtesy ride home. 

No one was injured after a two-car crash March 1 on Route 65 at Walnut Street. Police said Benjamin Fuoss of Edgeworth turned left from Walnut Street to Route 65 while the light was red, and Beaver Falls resident Larry Nelson’s car struck Fuoss’s sport utility vehicle. Police said both vehicles were severely damaged. Neither driver complained of injuries, police said. Police cited Fuoss with failing to obey traffic signals. Both vehicles were towed.

Police responded March 2 to a two-vehicle crash at Route 65 and Chestnut Street. Police said Trevor Johnson, 25, of Aliquippa, ran a red light at the intersection, and his minivan collided with a car that Robert Geisler, 66, of McKees Rocks, was driving. Police cited Johnson with failing to obey traffic signals.

Vehicle, driving violations

Police stopped a car March 1 after the vehicle was seen on Route 65 with the muffler hanging. Police said the driver, Shavonne Goosby, 20, of Beaver Falls, said she was aware the muffler was hanging. She was found to have a suspended registration and no insurance. Police cited her for the violations, and the vehicle was towed.

Police were called March 2 to the 200 block of Bank Street for a report of a speeding gold sport utility vehicle with a burned-out tail light. Officers arrived, but police said no vehicle was found. Police were called a day earlier to the area for a vehicle matching the same description.

Police cited the driver of a tractor-trailer with failing to obey traffic signs after he was seen driving down Walnut Street toward Route 65. Police said Donald Craighead, 49, of Saxe, VA, used the street despite clearly posted signs stating that no tractor-trailers are allowed on borough roads.

Welfare check

Officers were called to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital March 2 for a report of a child left alone in a car. When police arrived, they found the child sleeping and his mother napping next to him. The mother said her parents were at a doctor’s visit and she was never away from her child.

Suspicious activity

Police were dispatched March 2 to the area of Lake Street near Downing Way for a report of a group of people possibly smoking marijuana. Police did not find any drugs.

Loose animal reports

An officer found a white chicken running Thursday in the 300 block of Hill Street near Blackburn Road. The chicken was caught and placed in the bed of the officer’s pickup. Police Sgt. Bob McNatt will house the chicken until the owner reports the chicken missing.

Police responded Wednesday to the area of Beaver and Grove streets for a report of two dogs running at large. The dogs were gone on arrival, police said.

Police were dispatched March 4 to the area of Beaver and Grimes streets for a small poodle running in and out of traffic in the area. Police were unable to locate the poodle.

Vehicle vandalism 

Police said someone vandalized a parked car March 4 in the 800 block of Ohio River Boulevard. A resident told police that overnight his vehicle was keyed and the front bumper broken. A liquid substance also was poured on one of the doors, police said
