Sewickley Police Blotter: Fights, Thefts and Gas Leaks

Sewickley police reported to the following recent incidents.

said a dinner party went awry earlier this month after an argument between two women escalated into a food fight at a borough residence.

Officers were dispatched April 5 to the 300 block of McCready Way after the host of the dinner party became alarmed.

Police said the resident reported to officers that two female guests he invited over for dinner and cocktails began to argue and at one point the argument escalated into a food fight.

The resident told police he felt the argument became too violent so he called authorities. When police arrived, one of the women had already left, police said. The host was advised to call police if the woman returned.

Burning brakes

  • Police were called Monday to Route 65 at Broad Street for a garbage truck with possible burning brakes. were notified.

Mischief reports

  • Police were called April 4 for a complaint of juveniles climbing on the trains at Riverfront Park on Chadwick Street. Police found three juveniles who were sent on their way.
  • Police received a complaint April 5 about a suspicious man wearing a tunic and turban lying in the grass beside the post office doing weird movements. Police arrived but found no one. Another officer found someone fitting the description at the bus stop on Beaver Street. Police identified the male as an American who is a practicing Muslim. The man told police he left the library right around when it was time to pray. He found a spot in the grassy area to pray to Allah, police said.

Gas leak reports 

  • Police were called Sunday to a home in the 900 block of Nevin Avenue for a possible gas leak. arrived and took over.
  • Police were called April 7 to the 900 block of Dickson Road for a possible gas leak. Police discovered the leak at a demolition site and Columbia Gas was notified.

Theft reports 

  • Police were called April 12 to the Wagner Agency on Broad Street for a theft report. The manager told police there have been three cash theft incidents totaling $100 in the past three weeks. Police are looking into a suspect.
  • Police were dispatched April 12 to the Sewickley Café for a burglar alarm. Police noticed a back door had been pried open. While walking the grounds behind the business, police found a full bottle of gin. The owner arrived and found four bottles of alcohol missing. The gin was placed into evidence for fingerprinting, police said.
  • Police received a report April 10 from a resident in the 800 block of Ohio River Boulevard who said someone took her furniture worth $2,000 to $2,500. She told police she stored a couch, coffee table, chair and two end tables in an unlocked storage unit of her apartment’s basement over winter and recently discovered it was taken.
  • Police received a complaint from Sewickley Traditions about a New Jersey man who attempted to sell 100 fake silver dollars. Police said the owner tested the coins and found them to be fake. Police said the man claimed his uncle just passed away and that he was selling off his coins. The man was believed to be staying in Coraopolis and police there were notified.

Public drunkenness

  • An Evans City man was cited with public drunkenness after police said he caused a commotion by arguing with his brother in the area of Beaver and Broad streets. Police said Christian Stoll, 32, of Evans City was intoxicated when he picked up his brother April 11 from the airport. Stoll’s brother convinced him to stop in Sewickley and police said Stoll became upset when his brother took his keys.

Rat report

  • Police were called April 11 to a home in the 100 block of Walnut Street for a large rat in someone’s apartment. Officers searched the entire apartment for the rat, but were unable to locate one.

Vandalism report

  • Police received vandalism complaints April 11 from two Centennial Avenue residents after someone reportedly keyed their vehicles.
