Sewickley Police Blotter: Truck Driver Hauling Logs Cited for Unsecured Load

Sewickley Police responded to the following recent incidents.

cited a tree company after its GMC truck was spotted hauling a large load of unsecured logs in the borough, police reported.

Police said the driver, Joseph Bianco, 28, of Pittsburgh, was hauling logs at least 6-feet long on the truck Friday when police stopped the vehicle at Beaver and Logan streets in Sewickley.

Police said Bianco, a driver for Down and Out Tree & Stump Service, based in Pittsburgh, thought another worker had secured the load, but police said the logs were not tied down.

Police cited the company for having an unsecured load and placed the truck out of service until the logs could be secured using a minimum of three chains, police said.

Public drunkenness charge

Police were dispatched at 11:30 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of Walnut Street for a report of a man beating on a car.

Police found Joseph A. Kamzelski, 30, of Sewickley, in gym shorts and sneakers, staggering and waving his arms around on Thorn Street, police said.

He was cited with public drunkenness and released to a family member.

 

Disorderly conduct charge

A Moon Township man was cited Monday with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after police said the man attacked a Sewickley resident. 

Police said , 19, of Moon, attacked a 56-year-old man in the 700 block of Lake Street after the two began arguing about the man’s daughter.

 

Suspicious vehicle

Police received a report Sunday about a suspicious vehicle in the area of Henry Avenue and Little Street.

Police checked the area, but did not find the vehicle. Police said the car matched the description of a vehicle previously seen delivering newspapers.

 

Woman stranded

Police responded Saturday to a report of an elderly blind female who was stranded by a friend on Beaver Street.

Police said the friend, a Moon Township man in his 70s, dropped the woman off and was going to park his car, but never returned. Police said the friend has Parkinson’s disease.

Police gave the woman a courtesy ride to Coraopolis and called Moon police to do a welfare check on the man.

 

Wallet theft

Police handled a theft report at the Sewickley Valley YMCA March 12 after someone stole a wallet out of a teenage girl’s locker while she was working out.

Police said the girl’s license, Social Security card, multiple gift cards, cash and about five keys attached to the wallet were taken. Police said the girl did not have a lock securing her belongings in the locker.

Police said there have been of theft at the YMCA. Members are encouraged to secure their belongings and the YMCA provides access to locks if needed.

 

Littering report

Police responded to the 800 block of Nevin Street for a report of a thin man with a tattoo on his neck throwing orange peels on the sidewalk.

The man argued with the caller, then left the area before police arrived. Police saw the orange peels in the street.
