Sewickley Police Issue Citations for Retail Theft

Sewickley police have been cracking down on retail thefts from Rite Aid. 

Police said an officer in plain clothes saw a woman take two items totaling $8 from the cosmetics section on Feb. 20. Police cited Amanda Phillips of McDonald Street with taking a hair coloring stick and a lash kit.

On Feb. 21, a manager saw a woman remove a calculator notebook worth $8.50 from its wrapper and walk out of the store with it. Police said Emily Lowen of Hazel Lane was located at the library with the new calculator. She was cited with retail theft.

On Feb. 24, police said an officer cited Robert Supra of Thorn Street after he was seen pocketing two candy bars worth $3. Police said Supra proceeded to pay for other items. 

Sewickley Police responded to the following recent incidents. Each reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.

Theft reports

Police were called Feb. 24 to the Sewickley Valley YMCA for a theft report. Police said someone went into a locker and took a key from a man’s jacket pocket.  The key was then used to open a lock box containing the man’s wallet, keys and cell phone. The wallet was taken and turned into the front desk with $300 missing.

On Feb. 16, police said someone stole a wallet containing $80 and a $25 gift card inside from a locker.

Bike stolen

Police said someone stole a blue and white bike worth $700 from a resident on Ohio River Boulevard. The bike was reported stolen on Feb. 19.

Public drunkenness citation

Police cited Nicole Lantzy of Ross Township with public drunkenness on Feb. 21 after she was seen staggering down Beaver Street near Rite Aid. Police offered Lantzy a courtesy ride home, but she became confused about where she lived. She was taken to the Coraopolis police department lock up to sober up.

Crash report

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash Feb. 21 in the 1400 block of Route 65. Police said Bruce Sentz of Aliquippa was traveling southbound when he attempted to change lanes and struck a vehicle driven by Terrance Conroy of Ellwood City. No one was injured, police said.

Animal complaint

A woman told police she fended off an attack of two pit bulls Feb. 23 while walking in the 800 block of McDonald Street. Police said a couple walking the dogs lost control of them and the woman threw her purse to help keep the dogs away. Police checked the area with no results.

Criminal mischief

Police responded to Martin’s Spa on Locust Place on Sunday morning for a criminal mischief report. Police said someone threw a large brick through the display window, littering the sidewalk and shop with glass. Nothing was taken from the business and a neighborhood canvass did not reveal any results, police said.
