Sewickley Police Investigate Hit and Run Involving Two Vehicles

Police plan to speak with one of the drivers.

Sewickley police are investigating a hit and run incident that occurred Friday morning on Route 65.

Police said a Jeep Cherokee was being tailgated by a Pontiac car around 10:45 a.m. while the two were headed southbound on the boulevard. The car attempted to go around and sideswiped the Jeep, forcing it onto a curb, police said.

The Jeep's driver, whom police did not name, regained control and confronted the other driver after the two stopped for the red light at the Sewickley Bridge intersection.

Police said the driver at fault refused to pull over and exchange information, so the victim jumped onto his car hood.

Police said the car hit reverse attempting to shake the man from the hood. The victim's wife got out of the Jeep holding a revolver in her hand, but never pointed it at the driver. Police said the woman has a license to carry and feared her husband could be killed.

After the light changed, police said the car drove forward and the victim rolled off and got back into his Jeep.

Police said the driver of the Jeep attempted to follow the car, but lost his back brakes from hitting the curb and was unable to keep up with the car beyond Haysville.

The victim was also transporting three children in the back seat and one complained of minor arm pain. The victim had a bruise on his leg.

Witnesses were able to get the car's license plate number. Police are working to speak with the car's owner.
