Firefighters Respond to Smoke Condition Inside Edgeworth Commons Building

The building on Route 65 was evacuated Tuesday afternoon.

Cochran Hose firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon to a report of smoke inside the Edgeworth Commons building off Route 65 in Edgeworth.

Fire Chief Jeff Neff said the issue was a light haze of smoke on the second floor, prompting an evacuation of patients and staff from the three-story building shortly before 2 p.m.

Fire officials were working to pinpoint the source of the smoke. Neff said it appeared to be electrical or HVAC related.

The building at 301 Ohio River Boulevard houses about a dozen medical offices, including Heritage Valley's Surgery Center.

No one was injured. The building was reopened for entry about an hour later.

Edgeworth and Leetsdale police and Valley Ambulance assisted at the scene.
