State Police Arrest Suspect in Penn State Campus Threat; Classes Resume Monday

State police say Michael Dewight Mollett, 21, of Homestead, was arrested Sunday without incident.

A Homestead man was arrested Sunday after police said he made threatening statements to the Penn State University-Beaver campus.

State Police reported that Michael Dewight Mollett, 21, of Homestead, was arrested on a warrant Sunday without incident and taken to Allegheny County Jail, where he remained Sunday night. He is charged with making terroristic threats and harassment.

Police said Mollett posted Twitter messages at 3:15 p.m. Oct. 20 indicating that he intended to harm others on campus.

As a result, Friday classes were canceled and the campus was closed. At least one nearby school district was placed on lock down as well.

Penn State officials notified students, staff and faculty that the campus is secure and that classes will resume at 8 a.m., Monday, Oct. 24.  The campus was reopened on Sunday.
