Swimmer Nearly Drowns at Settlers Cabin Wave Pool

Lifeguards rescued the man, said to be in his early 20s.

An unidentifed man swimming at nearly drowned Sunday afternoon, but was resuscitated by lifeguards, according to multiple media outlets.

Lifeguards pulled the man from the water around 2 p.m. and performed CPR on him before he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Family members said the victim went to Allegheny General Hospital, WPXI TV reported. His name has not been released.

Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman said the victim is in critical condition, but expected to recover. He was conscious Monday morning and Allegheny County police detectives interviewed him about the incident.

The is located at Settlers Cabin Park in Robinson Township. The sprawling 1,610-acre park is split between Collier, Robinson and North Fayette townships.

A manager at the Settlers Cabin Wave Pool said he could not comment on Sunday afternoon’s incident.
