Thefts, Rock Throwing and Other Incidents

Rock throwing

Police were called at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2 to the area of Emery Street and Walnut Street for a report of a group of young kids throwing rocks at passing vehicles. Police arrived  and searched the area but the kids were gone.

 Store theft reported

Police responded shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, July 4 to Big Bang Comics for a report of a theft.

Police said the owner had one of the two kids involved still in the store. Police said two teenagers were in the store when the owner noticed one stole an action figure and ran out with the other teen following him. 

The owner yelled at the second teen, who returned to the store and was waiting for the police. The teen told police he was in town visiting his grandmother and didn’t know the person who stole the item. Police searched the area but couldn’t locate the suspect. Police said the action figure is worth about $50.

Thefts reported

Police received a report on June 27 that someone tried to steal an entry gate made of steel from the front of a residence in the 700 block of Nevin Avenue.

Police said someone stole a purse from a car June 29 while its owner was at the St. James Farmer’s market. Police said the owner insisted that she locked her car door but wasn’t completely sure. There was no damage to the vehicle, police said.  Police said the purse was worth $250, but the owner said there was nothing of value inside. 

Police were called June 25 to the 100 block of Walnut Street for a report of a male having his pain medication stolen.

Fan accident

Police and Valley Ambulance were called to the Sewickley Post Office June 26 for a report of a male who was hit in the head by a fan and bleeding. Police said an employee was changing a light bulb when the power came back on and the fan turned on, hitting him in the head. He was transported to Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital.
