Two Sewickley Women Among Three Killed in Mercer County Car Crash

State police said the three were killed after a two-vehicle crash on I-79.

Three people, including two Sewickley women, were killed Friday after a head-on car crash on Interstate 79 in Mercer County, according to state police.

State police said one of the drivers, Susan L. Thomas, 54, of Sewickley was pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed was her passenger, Mary Carmody, 44, of Sewickley.

Police said the crash happened shortly after 5:40 p.m. in Deer Creek Township when Robert J. Neubert II, 62, of Amherst, NY lost control of his car.

His southbound vehicle struck head-on into Thomas's car, which was traveling northbound. He was also killed, police said. Police are unsure why Neubert lost control.
