Vehicle Slams into Truck in Leetsdale, Sends One to Hospital

One driver was taken to the hospital following the three-vehicle crash on Route 65 at Kost Ramp, near the Michael Maruca Bridge.

A woman was taken to Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital Monday morning after her car slammed into the back of a stalled truck on Route 65.

Leetsdale police Cpl. Michael Slawianowski reported that Kathleen Gibson, 66, of Pittsburgh, suffered leg and neck pain as a result of the three-vehicle crash at the Route 65 and Maruca Bridge intersection in Leetsdale.

Police said the crash happened at 7:47 a.m. when a work truck driven by Michael Notarianni, 47, of New Sewickley Township, attempted to turn onto Kost Ramp from 65, but lost the gear and stalled out in the intersection.

Police said Gibson's car struck the back of the truck, which in turn backed into Joe Mitchem's stopped sport utility vehicle. Mitchem of Canonsburg, PA was not injured.

Firefighters had to cut Gibson from her vehicle.

Leetsdale Volunteer Fire Department and Cochran Hose Co. assisted. Bell Acres police and Valley Ambulance also responded.
