Update: Driver Contacts Police after Saturday's Hit-and-Run Crash

Moon Police say a man has reported to them that he thought he'd struck a deer Saturday night on Moon Clinton Road.

said they now have a lead in Saturday's hit-and-run crash that left a 17-year-old girl injured on Moon Clinton Road.

Police today said Clifford Dilley, 75, of Moon Township, reported to the at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday and said he thought he struck a deer the night before on Moon Clinton Road.

Officers immediately went to Dilley's home to investigate and examine his vehicle, which is a full-size Chevrolet pick-up truck.

The truck's damage, police say, is consistent with this pedestrian crash.

The police report states that Dilley has been cooperative throughout this investigation and agreed to submit blood samples at Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital for testing.

Moon Police seized Dilley's vehicle and have obtained a warrant to search and examine it for evidence. Police said they also have possession of the vehicle's onboard computer.

The Allegheny County Crime Lab will conduct forensic analysis and compare broken pieces found at the crash scene to pieces missing from the suspected vehicle.

The police report states that the investigation is ongoing. The victim, whose name has not been released, is being treated at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

No charges have been filed against Dilley.

Another reason Moon needs sidewalks... You cant walk anywhere in Moon without the risk of getting run over. For how many businesses and people live along University Blvd, Beaver Grade, and Moon Clinton I cannot see why Moon has no sort of Pedestrian program at all. You would think that since they built a new fancy school 200 feet from where this accident happened there would be some sort of sidewalk.

I have lived on this road all my life even if you put sidewalks on this road it still wouldn't be safe it is a state road people fly over the speed limit here also a lot of drunks drive up and down this road I've watched half full beer cans get thrown out windows by idiots driving by as for this girl being hit it was right down the road I think this guys story is fishy if you hit something with an impact like he did you'd stop immediately and not keep driving.

And this happened more than 200 feet from the school not even close to University Blvd this happened between Convair where East Coast Deli is and Casablanca Apts. I don't know who said it happened near University

J Lash --- what does a "fancy new school" have to do with this accident? I agree that Moon is way behind the times in regard to sidewalks but Moon Clinton Rd. will always be dangerous.

Yeah, but I was that girl. My names maria gray. Clifford hit me that night. I just moved into the area. Didn't know anything really about this place. And all I was doing was going to MC donalds that night. And he did get charges. House arrest and such.
