Woman Charged in Moon Drug Bust Waives Hearing

A former Moon woman who police said used her children to sell drugs from her home and on two occasions in Sewickley waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. 

Pamela Smallis, 48, of Oakdale is slated to face a formal arraignment Sept. 13 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. She was scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court. 

Smallis is charged with child endangerment, corruption of minors and drug possession after police said she met with informants to sell them drugs and narcotics on five different occassions in 2011. 

Authorities said she frequently brought her children along when she made drug sales. 

Smallis, who formerly worked for the Children's Palace daycare center in Monaca, on Dec. 16 arranged for undercover informants to come to her home in the 300 block of Stocker Drive, police said. One of her children, who is a minor, sold prescription drugs and marijuana to the informants, according to a police statement. 

On two occassions in November and December, she also met with informants to sell marijuana and prescription drugs in Sewickley.

Chief Leo McCarthy said he was unable to provide the age of the children involved in the drug sales. He said Smallis had been under investigation by police and agents with the Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation since mid-2011.  

Smallis, who now resides in Oakdale, was charged in July with giving false indentification to law enforcement and driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop in Robinson Township.
