Woman Trapped in Car After Two-Vehicle Crash in Edgeworth

Police said one driver was unable to get out of her car after the crash.

A McKees Rocks woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a two-car crash on Route 65 that left her trapped inside her vehicle.

Sewickley police reported that Marguerite Bailey was stopped at 9:30 a.m. on McKown Street in Glen Osborne, near the Critmore building, when she attempted to turn left toward Pittsburgh. Her car pulled into the path of Richelle Barrett's northbound car before the two collided.

Police said Barrett of Pittsburgh hit the brakes right before the impact.

"If (Barrett) had been going any faster, it would have killed (Bailey)," said Sewickley police Patrolman Frank Lesniak.

Bailey had to be rescued from her vehicle and was transported to Heritage Valley Sewickley for an evaluation, police said. Her injuries did not appear to be serious, police said. Cochran Hose Co. and Moon Township firefighters assisted.

Police said Barrett suffered facial bruises, but did not require medical treatment.

Police said a Port Authority bus that stopped to let off a rider blocked Bailey's view before the crash. Bailey was cited with entering an intersection without clearance.
