Woman Waives Charges in Sewickley Heights Necklace Theft

Jessica Cox is charged with theft and receiving stolen property, accused of pawning the $20,000 necklace for $225.

A Coraopolis woman accused of stealing a $20,000 necklace from a Sewickley Heights home waived her right Tuesday to a preliminary hearing in Leetsdale District Court.

Jessica Cox, 28, of Ridge Avenue, will stand trial on felony counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Sewickley Heights police reported that Cox pawned a necklace worth $20,000 on Nov. 17 at Banner Coin Exchange in Pittsburgh in exchange for $225. Police said Cox took the gold necklace with diamonds and charms from a Scaife Road home where she had been recently hired as the cleaning lady.

Cox's bail was lowered Tuesday from $25,000 to a nonmonetary bond. Her public defender, Keith Donnelly said she will remain incarcerated because she has been admitted into a female rehabilitation program.

A formal arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 23.
