Borough officials have made storm preparations ahead of post-tropical cyclone Sandy.

Sewickley is ready for Hurricane Sandy, which made landfall around 8 p.m. near Atlantic City, NJ.

As high winds and heavy rains marched our way, Sewickley officials were busy preparing to deal with remnants of the storm, which is now being classified as a post-tropical cyclone.

Sewickley Manager Kevin Flannery said two crews were checking the catch basins around the borough, and will continue to remove leaves.

Crews have equipment prepared in the event limbs fall from trees and borough officials are monitoring the creeks and river areas, he said..

Flannery said the borough has also communicated with the Quaker Valley School District in the event a relief center is needed.
