Edgeworth Begins Road Paving Project

Find out which four roads are scheduled for repaving.

Paving work is underway in  as part of the borough’s 2012 road project.

Crews with Monessen-based El Grande Industries have started milling and repaving on Beaver Road between Edgeworth Lane and Academy Avenue.

Manager Marty McDaniel said Sycamore Road, a section of Woodland Road and the upper portion of East Drive are also scheduled for repaving.

Local roads will remain open to traffic during the work, he said.

“They’ll be working in one lane and flagging you through the other lane,” McDaniel said.

Beaver Road was last paved in 1999 and Woodland in 2000.

McDaniel said the borough tries to repave roads every 10 to 12 years, which he said is the typical lifespan of asphalt before the road begins breaking up into potholes. 

“We try to get to it before it gets to that point,” he said.
