Gov. Corbett's Son-in-Law Under Investigation

Multiple news sources are reporting that Gov. Tom Corbett’s son-in-law, a veteran narcotics officer, is being investigated in a criminal matter.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Gerold Gibson, 43—who is married to Corbett’s daughter, Katherine—was taken off the streets Thursday after he allegedly stole $140 from a car during a sting operation as part of an FBI and Police Internal Affairs investigation. 

A commanding officer alerted the Police Commissioner's Office last spring that there were strong suspicions that Gibson sporadically took money and other items during drug investigations, several sources told the Daily News.

Corbett told the Associated Press he was "surprised and concerned" about the allegations. 

Corbett's daughter Katherine, 33, works as a deputy attorney general in Philadelphia and had worked for several years as an assistant district attorney before joining the A.G.'s office, according to the Inquirer. The couple have been married since May 14, 2010, and have a child.

Gibson has not been formally charged, according to online court records.
