I-79 Neville Island Bridge Washing Begins Wednesday

Single lane restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through July 22.

PennDOT plans to have Interstate-79 closed to a single lane in both directions on the Neville Island Bridge Wednesday, June 1, for cleaning.

Weather permitting, Jim Struzzi, PennDOT spokesman said crews from Pittsburgh-based Michael Facchiano Contracting, Inc. will be washing the bridge between Exit 64 and Exit 66 starting Wednesday morning.

Restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through July 22.

One lane will be closed at a time and both directions will not be restricted simultaneously, Struzzi said.

Drivers are asked to use caution, slow down, and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area.

PennDOT also reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roads before traveling.
