Lane Closures to Begin Monday on Route 65 in Ambridge

Restrictions will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Jan. 27, according to PennDOT.

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 16, motorists traveling through Ambridge on northbound Route 65 in the area under the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge should be prepared for short-term lane closures, according to PennDOT.

Weather permitting, crews will be installing work platforms and containment systems above Route 65. Restrictions will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Jan. 27.   

The Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge crosses the Ohio River between Route 65 and Route 51 in Aliquippa and Ambridge.

The $16.6 million project to rehabilitate the 10-span structure includes rehabilitation, deck and sidewalk replacement, concrete spall repair, steel repair and replacement, railing, structural steel painting, bituminous pavement patching, pavement markings and other improvements.

The prime contractor for the project is the Trumbull Corp. of Pittsburgh. The project will conclude in late 2013.
