About a dozen houses soon will have new addresses.

“There’s no order to it, whatsoever,” Scimio said.

House numbers on Beech Street have been jumbled for years. Scimio said the sequence in addresses might begin at No. 2 but then jumps from No. 4 to 11, back to 14, 12, 16 and then 10. The street also connects to , where some houses have duplicate numbers to Leetsdale's, he said.

Safety questions were raised in the spring after a Beaver County 911 mix-up.

Scimio said a Leetsdale resident used her cellular phone to call 911 and had to explain to emergency dispatchers that she lived in Leetsdale, although her call was registered to Leet.

“ or , they’re going to respond no matter what, but it’s different when you have an ambulance and a critical situation like a heart attack,” Scimio said.

He said the borough could be liable and has been wrestling to come up with a solution. Officials considered changing the street name, but he said the same process would be required.

Scimio said he’s received mixed emotions from residents, with some people wanting to keep their old address.

“Others say it’s about time,” he said.
