A bridge inspection is planned starting next week.

Traffic on the Sewickley Bridge will be down to one lane starting on Monday, July 22.

PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said the bridge is slated for an inspection. The lane restrictions will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Tuesday, Aug. 6, according to PennDOT.

Cowan said police will control traffic from both sides of the bridge.

The bridge has been used as a main detour since March 4, when the nearby Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge closed long-term for a second time so that crews could complete a $16.6-million repair project.

The Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge is expected to reopen in October. Crews are performing steel repairs under the bridge deck and substructure work, according to PennDOT.
