Portion of Blackburn Road to Close Wednesday in Sewickley Heights

The two-week closure is necessary to conduct emergency repairs on a small culvert, according to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works.

Sewickley-area motorists will soon be dealing with yet another detour.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, the Allegheny County Public Works Department plans to close Blackburn Road in Sewickley Heights just west of the Thawmont Drive intersection.

The two-week closure is necessary to conduct emergency repairs on a small culvert, according to public works officials.

During the closure, motorists will be able to access the  Hospital and War Memorial Park by traveling eastbound on Blackburn Road from downtown.

Thawmont Drive will be accessible to vehicles traveling westbound on Blackburn Road from and .

A posted detour will be in place during the closure.

For eastbound traffic from Sewickley, motorists are asked to proceed east on Beaver Road for about one mile, turn left onto Glen Mitchell Road, proceed about two miles, and then return to Blackburn Road.

Motorists traveling westbound will use the same detour in reverse.
