Recycling Day This Year 'The Best Ever'

Sewickley borough officials call Quaker Valley Council of Governments recycling day a great success.

Sewickley Valley residents turned in nearly 1,000 pounds of electronic junk and the same amount of castoff batteries last month during the Recycling Day sponsored by the Quaker Valley Council of Governments.

 hosted this year's Recycling Day, held on May 7 by the council and its member municipalities. It was open to residents from Aleppo, Avalon, Bell Acres, Bellevue, Ben Avon, Edgeworth, Emsworth, Glenfield, Haysville, Kilbuck, Leet, Leetsdale, Glen Osborne and Sewickley. 

Organizers called this year's event a huge success.

"This was the best-ever recycling day in the entire Quaker Valley COG history," said Sewickley Manager Kevin Flannery.

In all, 179 people from 13 member communities participated.

The following was collected in a span of four hours:
