Single Lane Closures Begin on Route 65 in Emsworth

Lane closures begin today as part of the overall $5.1 million reconstruction project. Find out how long it will last.

Construction work continues today, Dec. 11 in Emsworth as part of a $5.1 million project to improve Route 65, or Ohio River Boulevard.

PennDOT spokesman James Struzzi said crews will be constructing a barrier wall, installing guide rail and performing other work.

For commuters it means southbound single-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Dec. 21 between Camp Horne Road and Beaver Avenue.

PennDOT is advising motorists to allow extra time and be prepared for changing traffic patterns. Use all lanes to the merge point and allow others to form a single lane courteously. 

The overall 4.5 mile project on Route 65 includes milling and resurfacing, drainage, guide rail, curbing, signs, signals, structure repairs and other improvements in Emsworth, Sewickley, Edgeworth, Leetsdale and Ambridge boroughs in Allegheny and Beaver counties.

Overall work will conclude in spring 2013.
