Sewickley Council Looks to Pave More Roadway

Work is anticipated to proceed late this month.

When Sewickley Council meets next week, officials plan to approve an addition to the 2013 road project to include a portion of Beaver Street.

Council last month approved a $359,064 contract with Morgan Excavating LP, who provided the lowest bid to pave various roads throughout the borough.

Sewickley Manager Kevin Flannery said the addition would include a portion of Beaver from Straight Street to Boundary Street for $79,436.

Council set aside $100,000 for the project when it adopted the 2013 budget and didn't spend as much of the $863,000 total road construction budget as it anticipated.

The work can be added to the contract because it is less than 25 percent of the original contract, Flannery said.

Roads scheduled for paving include Nevin Avenue from Hill Street to Beaver Street, Ferry Street and a portion of Beaver. Work is anticipated to proceed late this month.

Additional work is expected to be bid out in August to include Ferry Street in conjunction with the Sewickley Water Authority line replacements.
