Sewickley Hills Continues Marcellus Shale Hearing

Council needs more time to make changes to a proposed ordinance

Sewickley Hills Council Monday night again continued the Marcellus Shale hearing until next month to allow more time to work on the ordinance.

Council has been working to approve an ordinance that would provide guidelines  to control gas well drilling in Sewickley Hills as part of the borough’s zoning regulations.

Council took public testimony last month about potential drilling in the borough before voting to reconvene the hearing until Monday's regular meeting.  Most from the crowd who spoke last month expressed concerns for resident safety and ruining the quality of life in the borough.
