Q: Can you help me make my junk drawer less junky looking?

A: Like anything else in the home- a little clean up is all that is needed.

Here is a step by step process to help your junk drawer be less junky.

- Begin by emptying out the contents of the drawer. 

-Sort like items together.

-Get rid of dried out pens, markers and anything else that is broken or worn out.

-If you have items that should not live in the drawer, set those items aside and deliver to the appropriate place in your house after your work on the drawer is completed.

-Think about what will go back into the drawer.  Is it something you use regularly?  Is it functional for the room?

-When putting items back into the drawer, consider using small containers to hold like items together and keep them from rolling around in your drawer.  You can also use a full size drawer insert.  Looking to recycle?  Use jewelry boxes and trimmed down shoeboxes – they offer the same practicality and function that you need for this space.

-Keep up with the maintenance of your drawer by doing a purge of unwanted items once a month.
